PM Narendra Modi is scheduled to chair the first meeting of the Council of Ministers on June 4 at 4:30 PM. This will be the first such meeting since India launched Operation Sindoor in response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.
The operation targeted nine terror camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), and India has since responded robustly to all Pakistani offensives under this mission.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is likely to make a presentation in the meeting on Operation Sindoor
Speaking at a public rally in West Bengal, PM Modi confirmed that Operation Sindoor is still underway and emphasized that India has established a “new normal” in its approach to countering terrorism.
Meanwhile, the Opposition has intensified calls for a special session of Parliament to deliberate on the Pahalgam attack and the ongoing military operation. The demand gained further traction after Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, during an event in Singapore, acknowledged that India had made some initial “mistakes” during Operation Sindoor, but assured that those errors were promptly corrected.
