PM Modi will travel to Tianjin, China at the invitation of President Xi Jinping to attend the SCO Summit.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will travel to Japan and China between August 29 and September 1 to attend two major international engagements, the Ministry of External Affairs announced on Friday, August 22.

In Tokyo, Modi will take part in the 15th India–Japan Annual Summit with his counterpart Shigeru Ishiba, where the two leaders are expected to review defence, trade, technology, and innovation ties under the Special Strategic and Global Partnership.

From Japan, Modi will head to Tianjin, China, to participate in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit on August 31–September 1 at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. This will be Modi’s first visit to China since the 2020 Galwan clashes.

The Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with several world leaders on the sidelines of the SCO summit.
