PM Narendra Modi and Chinese President Xi Jinping meeting

Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said that during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the sidelines of the SCO Summit, the issue of cross-border terrorism was raised, with China extending its support to India in addressing the challenge. Misri highlighted that both nations recognize the importance of cooperation in combating terrorism.

He explained that the Prime Minister emphasized cross-border terrorism as a priority concern, noting its impact on both India and China. Misri said India had received China’s understanding and cooperation on the matter, which was particularly significant in the context of the ongoing SCO deliberations.

Without disclosing details of the discussions, Misri added that PM Modi presented India’s position “crisply and specifically,” underlining that terrorism is a scourge affecting both countries. The acknowledgment of shared vulnerability, he said, underscored the need for mutual support in tackling the threat.
