Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to visit Guwahati on Friday, October 17, to pay tribute to the late music icon Zubeen Garg. He will offer his respects at Garg’s cremation site in Kamarkuchi, Sonapur, before meeting the artist’s wife, Garima Saikia Garg, and other family members at their Kahilipara residence.
Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) media chair Bedabrata Bora confirmed that Gandhi’s visit is a personal gesture to express solidarity and extend condolences to the bereaved family. No political engagements have been planned during the trip.
The visit comes amid growing public sentiment and ongoing calls for “Justice for Zubeen.” Several youth groups and Congress workers across Assam have been staging peaceful demonstrations, while the APCC has urged district units to hold memorial meetings on October 19 to mark one month since the beloved singer’s passing.
