Lalu Prasad Yadav expels son Tej Pratap from party for 6 years

In a major political and personal development, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) founder and veteran leader Lalu Prasad Yadav has announced the expulsion of his elder son, Tej Pratap Yadav, from the party for a period of six years.

The decision, he stated, was taken due to Tej Pratap’s continued disregard for moral values and irresponsible behaviour, which he said were in conflict with the party’s principles and the family’s traditions.

In a public statement, Lalu Yadav wrote, “Disregard for moral values in personal life weakens our collective struggle for social justice. The activities, public behavior, and irresponsible conduct of my eldest son are not in accordance with our family’s values and cultural ethos. Therefore, under these circumstances, I am distancing him from both the party and the family.”

He added that Tej Pratap Yadav will have no role in either the RJD or the family henceforth. “He is being expelled from the party for six years. He is capable of managing his personal life independently. Those who wish to associate with him may do so at their own discretion,” Lalu said in the statement.

The RJD chief further emphasised his long-standing commitment to public morality and social values, noting that the obedient members of his family have upheld this principle in their public lives. “I have always stood by public decency in public life. The obedient members of the family have adopted and followed this belief in their public conduct,” he said.
