Rohit Sharma has been named the brand ambassador for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, which will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8. The announcement was made by ICC Chairman Jay Shah during a Mumbai event on November 25, where the tournament schedule was also unveiled.
Rohit Sharma won his first T20 World Cup in 2007 as part of MS Dhoni’s team and featured in every edition of the tournament thereafter. In 2024, he claimed his first ICC trophy as captain, leading India to a thrilling T20 World Cup victory over South Africa at the Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados. Rohit remains the only Indian player to win two T20 World Cup titles and is just the second Indian captain, after Dhoni, to lift the trophy.
After being named brand ambassador, Rohit expressed that he felt privileged to become the first active cricketer to hold this position with the ICC. His appointment highlights his legendary status in T20 cricket and his continued contribution to the sport beyond playing.
