India captain Rohit Sharma has undergone a significant fitness transformation, shedding nearly 11 kilograms in recent months as part of his renewed focus on conditioning and longevity in international cricket.
As per reports, the team confirmed that Rohit’s weight loss is the result of a strict diet and intensive training routine, which he has followed since the Australia tour. The 38-year-old batter is reportedly aiming to lose a few more kilos before India’s upcoming home series next month.
Former India batting coach Abhishek Nayar, who has worked closely with Rohit, said the skipper’s dedication has been exceptional. “Rohit has completely changed his lifestyle. He has been extremely disciplined and has even given up his favourite meals to maintain his progress,” Nayar said.
Rohit’s transformation follows a strong performance in the Sydney ODI, where he scored an unbeaten 121. His new fitness regime is being seen as part of a long-term plan to remain competitive and agile ahead of future international commitments, including the 2027 ODI World Cup.
