Tahira Kashyap confirms battling breast cancer for the second time

Writer and filmmaker Tahira Kashyap took to Instagram on Monday, April 7, to share a heartfelt note revealing her breast cancer relapse diagnosis. The 42-year-old is once again battling the disease, seven years after initially overcoming it.

In her post, Kashyap, who is also married to actor Ayushmann Khurrana, emphasized the importance of regular mammograms and referred to this relapse as “round two” of her fight. Using the popular saying, “when life gives you lemons, make lemonade,” she expressed her determination to face the illness once again with optimism.

“When life gives you lemons make lemonade. When life becomes too generous and throws them again at you, you squeeze them calmly into your favourite kala khatta drink and sip it with all the good intentions. Because for one it’s a better drink and two you know you will give it your best once again,” she wrote.

Her caption included the hashtags “#regularscreening #mammogram #breastcancer #onemoretime #letsgo,” and she reflected on the coincidence of her diagnosis falling on #WorldHealthDay, encouraging others to prioritize their health. She wrote, “Let’s do whatever we can in our capacity to take care of ourselves. #gratitude through and through.”

Kashyap was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2018. A strong advocate for awareness about the disease, she made her directorial debut with Sharmaji Ki Beti and has consistently promoted body positivity. During her first round of chemotherapy, Kashyap proudly embraced her baldness, choosing not to wear a wig to conceal it, and openly shared her surgery scars to inspire others.
