The country reported 306 fresh Covid cases in the past 24 hours, taking the tally of active cases to 7,121

With active the Covid-19 cases in India crossing the 7,000 mark, an RT-PCR test has been made mandatory for all ministers meeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, according to several reports.

According to the latest data released by the Union Health Ministry, India recorded 306 new Covid-19 cases and six deaths in the past 24 hours. The fatalities include three in Kerala, two in Karnataka, and one in Maharashtra.

Kerala continues to report the highest daily surge, registering 170 new infections and pushing its active caseload to 2,223. Gujarat followed with 114 new cases and 1,223 active infections. Karnataka reported 100 new cases, taking its total number of active cases to 459.

Delhi, meanwhile, logged 66 new infections, bringing the capital’s total active caseload to 757. Health authorities are closely monitoring the situation as states ramp up testing and containment efforts in response to the rising trend.
