Cockpit Voice Recorder black box found in Air India crash probe

The officials have recovered the second black box, Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR), from Air India plane crash site, said PK Mishra, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in an official statement.

The recovery of the second black box from the site would enable the investigators to understand the second-by-second reconstruction of events leading up to a crash, offering the most objective account of what transpired in the cockpit and across aircraft systems.

The second black box recovered at the site was the Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) which captures all cockpit audio – pilot conversations, radio transmissions, warning alarms, and ambient mechanical sounds that could provide crucial clues about the final moments before impact.

The first black office was discovered on Friday from the rooftop of a building at the site of the Air India Flight AI-171 crash in Ahmedabad.
