Second postmortem of Zubeen Garg's body to be done on public demand

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Monday, September 22, that a second post-mortem of popular singer Zubeen Garg will be conducted on Tuesday, September 23, 2025, at 7:30 AM at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital. The decision comes in response to widespread public demands for further investigation into his sudden death.

Prior to the announcement, Sarma consulted Garima Saikia Garg, Zubeen Garg’s wife, regarding whether the family wished for another post-mortem to be conducted in Guwahati. Garima Saikia Garg reportedly expressed that they had no objection if the government decided to proceed.

Zubeen Garg, aged 52, passed away in Singapore on September 19, 2025. His unexpected death has sparked speculation and calls for clarity regarding the circumstances surrounding the incident.

The death certificate report suggested that Garg died due to drowning. However, the second autopsy is expected to provide additional insights and confirm the exact cause of death, addressing public concerns and ensuring transparency.

The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have stated that further updates will be shared as more information becomes available.
