Indian captain Shubman Gill has been ruled out of the ongoing Test match against South Africa at Eden Gardens after sustaining a neck injury. The update was confirmed by the BCCI before the start of play on Day 3, stating that Gill would not take any further part in the match.

According to the board, Gill suffered the injury on Day 2 and was taken to the hospital for detailed examination once play concluded. He remains under medical observation, and the BCCI’s medical team will continue to monitor his condition closely as he recovers.

Gill, who batted at No. 4 in India’s first innings, managed to face only three deliveries before retiring hurt due to intense neck pain. His absence marks a significant setback for India in the ongoing Test.
