The BCCI confirmed that Shubman Gill would travel with the rest of the team to Guwahati.

The BCCI on Wednesday, November 19, confirmed that Shubman Gill will travel with Team India to Guwahati for the second Test against South Africa, scheduled to begin on November 22. Gill sustained a neck injury while batting during the first Test in Kolkata and was hospitalised, but the board said he has been responding well to treatment and has been cleared to fly.

Addressing speculation around his fitness, the BCCI clarified that Gill has not been ruled out of the second Test. The board stated that a final decision on his availability will be made closer to the match. Gill was kept under observation after the injury on Day 2 of the Kolkata Test and discharged the following day.

India, trailing 0–1 after a 30-run defeat in the series opener, are eager to have the star batter fit for the must-win match in Guwahati. Gill will continue to be monitored by the BCCI medical team throughout the lead-up to the game.
