The Singapore Police Force (SPF) is expected to provide crucial evidence, including CCTV footage and statements from eyewitnesses, related to the death of Zubeen Garg within the next 10 days, a senior Assam Police official said on Friday, October 24. CID Special DGP Munna Prasad Gupta, who leads the Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the case, stated that Assam Police has formally requested all relevant information from their counterparts in Singapore to ensure the investigation is completed in a timely manner.
Gupta, along with Titabor Co-District SP Tarun Goel, visited Singapore four days ago to further probe the singer’s unnatural death and returned on Thursday. Speaking to reporters, Gupta said, “We met the Indian High Commissioner and held discussions with a five-member high-level delegation of SPF. The meeting was very fruitful, and we exchanged information related to the ongoing investigation in both countries.” The team also sought statements from the yacht pilot and a member of the Assam Association in Singapore, which will be provided through legal channels.
In addition, the Assam Police requested CCTV footage from the hotel and other locations visited by Garg, which SPF is expected to provide within 10 days. Gupta emphasized the need for timely cooperation, noting that SPF aims to complete their probe in 90 days, allowing Assam Police to submit a chargesheet within three months. The SIT, under the CID, is currently investigating the case following over 60 FIRs lodged across the state.
