India’s coffee sector is undergoing a transformation as consumers shift from instant coffee to specialty brews and sophisticated home brewing techniques. This trend is attributed to increasing disposable incomes, greater global exposure, and changing taste preferences.
Urban dwellers are showing a growing preference for high-quality, single-origin coffee beans and artisanal brewing methods. A coffee expert remarked, “Consumers desire control over their brewing process, emphasizing flavor and freshness.” There is also a rising demand for home coffee machines, especially in metropolitan areas.
Compact, fully automated machines that produce café-style drinks are becoming increasingly popular. The Costar Cosmo team noted, “Consumers are ready to invest in advanced brewing equipment that provides café-quality coffee without the need for professional expertise.”
A recent report by Mintel revealed that 73% of coffee drinkers believe that cultural diversity enhances the credibility of brands. Additionally, experts point out that Gen Z consumers tend to trust collective knowledge more than individual endorsements.
