Kolkata Police have arrested a student of the Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta, in connection with the alleged rape of a woman on the institute’s campus.
A senior police official confirmed on Saturday, July 12, that the survivor lodged a complaint at Haridevpur Police Station late Friday evening. The accused, a current student at IIM Calcutta, has been taken into custody, and a formal case has been registered based on the complaint.
This incident comes just weeks after a separate case involving the alleged gang rape and assault of a 24-year-old student at South Calcutta Law College, raising serious concerns about the safety of women in the city’s educational institutions.
