Firefights erupted along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, marking a sharp escalation in cross-border tensions. Taliban-led Afghan forces reportedly seized multiple Pakistani Army outposts along the Durand Line, including locations in the volatile Kunar and Helmand provinces, according to Afghanistan’s Ministry of Defense.
An Afghan Defense official confirmed in a statement that “Taliban forces have captured several outposts from the Pakistani Army across the Durand Line in Kunar and Helmand provinces.” The move comes amid rising hostilities between the neighboring countries in recent weeks.
At least 12 Pakistani soldiers were reported killed, with several others injured in the ongoing clashes. Intense fighting has been reported in Bahramcha district’s Shakij, Bibi Jani, and Salehan areas, as well as across Paktia’s Aryub Zazi district, highlighting the growing instability along the border region.
