In a shocking incident from Gurugram, state-level tennis player Radhika Yadav was allegedly shot and killed by her father on Thursday morning, July 10. The incident took place around 10:30 AM at their residence on the first floor of a house in Sushant Lok 2, where the 25-year-old athlete lived with her family.
According to media reports, Radhika’s father was reportedly disturbed by her excessive use of social media, particularly her frequent creation of Instagram reels. In a fit of rage, he allegedly fired five bullets at her, three of which struck her.
Radhika was rushed to a nearby hospital but succumbed to her injuries. Police confirmed her death and said they were alerted by the hospital. “We received information from the hospital about a 25-year-old woman who had died from gunshot wounds. On reaching the scene and speaking to the family, we learned that her father was the shooter,” a police officer stated. Authorities have seized the weapon used in the crime.
Radhika Yadav was a promising athlete with a notable presence in the tennis circuit. She held an International Tennis Federation (ITF) doubles ranking of 113 and was once ranked within the top 200 globally in the same category. Born on March 23, 2000, she had represented her state in several tournaments and was seen as a rising star in Indian tennis.
The investigation into the case is ongoing, and police are questioning family members and neighbours to establish the full sequence of events.
