Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra announced a state of emergency in Bangkok, capital of Thailand, after a strong earthquake

A powerful 7.7-magnitude Earthquake struck Myanmar on Friday, March 28, sending strong tremors throughout the region, including neighboring Thailand and Vietnam.

In response to the widespread panic and damage caused by the tremors, Thai PM Paetongtarn Shinawatra declared a “state of emergency” in Bangkok.

The epicenter of the quake, which occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, was located at coordinates 96.07°E, 21.93°N in Myanmar. The tremors were felt as far away as Bangkok, where the Thai government responded swiftly to the chaos in the streets.
