MS Dhoni quit international cricket in 2020 but has since continued to play for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL

MS Dhoni has once again emphasized his strong connection with Chennai Super Kings (CSK), stating that he can continue playing for the franchise for as long as he desires. However, he has not made any clear statements regarding his future in the IPL, leaving his participation in the next season uncertain.

“I can play for as long as I want for CSK. That’s my franchise. Even if I’m in a wheelchair, they’ll drag me,” he said in a chat on JioHotstar.

The 42-year-old, who has led CSK to five IPL titles, stepped down as captain ahead of the 2024 season but remains an integral part of the team. Despite ongoing rumours about his retirement, Dhoni has not confirmed when he plans to call it a day.

After leading CSK to another IPL title in 2023, Dhoni underwent knee surgery but made his comeback for the 2024 season, taking on the role of a finisher.

In the previous year, Dhoni mentioned his desire to “enjoy whatever last few years of cricket” he could play. He also explained why he faced so few deliveries in the last IPL season, stating that with the T20 World Cup approaching, he wanted to give players like Shivam Dube and Ravindra Jadeja more chances to showcase their skills and secure a spot in the Indian team.
