In view of the situation, Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) requests the people of Guwahati to take all necessary precautions and remain vigilant.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast heavy to very heavy rainfall in Guwahati over the next 24 hours, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning. The weather office has warned that the city could witness up to 6 cm of rain within a day, with intense spells reaching 2–3 cm per hour. Such conditions are likely to cause waterlogging, disrupt traffic, and heighten the risk of localized landslides in vulnerable areas.

Authorities in Guwahati have stepped up preparedness, with emergency response systems placed on alert to deal with any eventualities. The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) is working closely with city officials to monitor the situation and ensure timely interventions where needed.

Residents have been urged to remain cautious and take preventive measures. Commuters and travellers have been advised to plan their journeys carefully, avoiding unnecessary travel during heavy downpours. People living in low-lying and hillside zones, particularly prone to flooding or landslides, have been asked to stay vigilant and report any signs of danger promptly.
