Two days after a ceasefire was declared between Israel and Iran, US President Donald Trump issued a stern warning to Iran against attempting to rebuild its nuclear program. Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on Wednesday, June 25, Trump stated, “Iran will not enrich – that’s the last thing they want to do.”
He added, “Iran is not going to develop nuclear weapons anytime soon. We believe they didn’t have enough time to remove nuclear materials from their sites before the strikes. It was a devastating blow.”
Regarding reports about 400 kilograms of uranium being removed from Iranian nuclear sites prior to the US strikes, Trump dismissed these claims as “fake news.” The White House also condemned such reports, saying they were intended to undermine the President.
Trump emphasized that the US attacks effectively ended the conflict and set back Iran’s nuclear ambitions by decades. He described the weekend’s strikes as having “completely and totally obliterated” Iran’s main nuclear enrichment facilities.
On Tuesday, Trump expressed satisfaction over halting what he referred to as “THE WAR” between Israel and Iran. He called it his “great honour” to have destroyed Iran’s nuclear infrastructure and capabilities before brokering the ceasefire.
In a post on Truth Social, Trump highlighted that both Israel and Iran equally desired to end the conflict, writing, “Both Israel and Iran wanted to stop the War, equally! It was my great honour to Destroy All Nuclear facilities & capability, and then, STOP THE WAR.”
The ceasefire followed a period of escalating hostilities, which began on June 13 when Israel launched coordinated airstrikes against Iranian nuclear and military sites as part of “Operation Rising Lion.” Iran responded with missile and drone attacks on Israeli military infrastructure under “Operation True Promise 3.”
The United States later entered the conflict with precise strikes targeting Iran’s key nuclear facilities at Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan.
