US President Donald Trump and his senior advisors are making preparations for a possible trip to South Korea in late October for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) trade ministers’ gathering, CNN reported, citing administration officials. During the visit, Trump may hold a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, though discussions remain preliminary and no concrete plans have been finalized.
The summit, scheduled to take place in the city of Gyeongju between late October and early November, is being seen as a significant opportunity for the two leaders to engage directly. A potential bilateral meeting on the sidelines would mark an important step in US-China relations amid ongoing global trade and security challenges.
Last month, Xi extended an invitation for Trump and his wife to visit China during a phone call, an offer Trump reciprocated with a similar invitation. However, both sides have yet to set specific dates for these visits.
