Television actor Ashish Kapoor, known for his role in Yeh Rishta, has been sent to 14-day judicial custody after being arrested by the Delhi Police on Wednesday. The arrest came following a woman’s complaint accusing him of rape during a house party in Delhi in the second week of August.
According to the complaint, the woman alleged that Kapoor sexually assaulted her inside a washroom during the gathering. Police revealed that the actor had come in contact with the complainant through Instagram and later invited her to the party at a friend’s residence, where the alleged incident occurred.
Initially, the FIR mentioned Kapoor, his friend, the friend’s wife, and two unidentified people. However, the woman later revised her statement, claiming that only Kapoor was responsible for the assault. On Friday, the actor underwent a medical potency test, which authorities said could serve as key evidence in the ongoing investigation.
