Two Australian women cricketers participating in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup were allegedly molested by a man on a motorcycle in Indore on October 23.
The incident reportedly occurred in the Khajrana Road area as the players were walking from their hotel to a nearby café. One of the cricketers was allegedly touched inappropriately before the assailant fled the scene.
The players immediately informed their team security officer, Danny Simmons, who coordinated with local authorities. Police registered a First Information Report (FIR) and arrested the accused, identified as Aqeel Khan, a resident of Indore. Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi confirmed the arrest and stated that the investigation is ongoing.
The Australian team, in India for the World Cup, was preparing for its match against South Africa, scheduled for October 25. The incident has sparked concerns about the safety and security of international players during the tournament.
Cricket Australia has not yet issued an official statement regarding the incident.
