Playback singer and former actor Sulakshana Pandit passed away on Thursday, November 6, at the age of 71. Known for her contributions to Indian cinema and playback music, Pandit began her career in the 1970s and became a well-recognized figure in the industry.

She made her acting debut with the suspense thriller Uljhan in 1975, starring opposite Sanjeev Kumar. Over the late 1970s and early 1980s, she appeared in several notable Hindi films, including Sankoch, Hera Pheri, Apnapan, Khandaan, Chehre Pe Chehra, Dharam Kanta, and Waqt Ki Deewar, establishing herself as a prominent leading lady.

During her career, Pandit worked alongside major actors of the era, such as Jeetendra, Rajesh Khanna, Vinod Khanna, Shashi Kapoor, and Shatrughan Sinha. In 1978, she also showcased her versatility by acting in the Bengali film Bandie, opposite Uttam Kumar.
