Veteran singer, lyricist, composer, and former radio announcer Syed Sadulla passed away at the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after battling a severe blood-related disorder. The revered artist, whose soulful voice and timeless compositions enriched Assamese music for decades, breathed his last while undergoing treatment on Thursday, October 30.
Sadulla had been diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukaemia (CLL), a type of blood cancer, along with hypoxia-related complications that caused acute respiratory distress. Despite being placed on ventilator support and receiving intensive medical care, his condition deteriorated, and he succumbed to the illness.
A towering figure in Assam’s cultural landscape, Syed Sadulla was celebrated for his immense contributions as a singer, lyricist, and composer, leaving behind a legacy deeply cherished by music lovers across the state. Tributes have poured in from fellow artists, admirers, and fans, mourning the loss of one of Assam’s most respected musical icons.
