Assam Tea Festival at New York

Celebrated Michelin Star chef Vikas Khanna will host an Assam Tea Festival at his New York restaurant, ‘Bungalow’, as part of the global celebrations marking 200 years of Assam Tea. The announcement was made during a business roundtable organised by the Consulate General of India in New York, where Khanna was the Guest of Honour.

Having visited Assam 11 times, Khanna spoke passionately about his enduring connection with the state. He praised the region’s vibrant culture, the distinctive character of its tea, and the warmth of its people, describing Assam as one of India’s richest cultural landscapes.

Positioning the festival as a tribute to Assam’s legacy in the global tea trade, Khanna said the state’s tea, cuisine, textiles, and cultural heritage represent India’s soft power and merit broader international recognition. The Government of Assam has welcomed the initiative and pledged its full support. The festival is expected to boost Assam Tea’s global visibility and showcase the state’s unique identity on an international stage.
