Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that the viscera examination report in the investigation into singer Zubeen Garg’s death is expected by October 10 (Friday), with the complete findings likely available a day later. He clarified that the police are diligently recording all witness statements, but emphasized that recent poisoning allegations emerged from an accused’s testimony and not from official police conclusions. “These are not police statements but individual testimonies,” Sarma stated, urging the public to await verified information.
The Chief Minister also appealed to Assamese citizens to help ensure the cooperation of individuals currently in Singapore, who were present during Garg’s final yacht trip. Their statements are considered crucial to the ongoing probe. Sarma warned that without their return, the investigation could not be completed. The CID has issued notices to members of the Assam Association in Singapore, asking them to appear before investigators by October 6, cautioning that any delay could obstruct progress.
Meanwhile, several individuals—including festival organiser Shyamkanu Mahanta, Garg’s manager Siddharth Sharma, band member Shekhar Jyoti Goswami, and singer Amritprava Mahanta—are already in custody in Assam. According to police documents, Goswami alleged that Garg was poisoned during the yacht trip and that Sharma and Mahanta had planned to disguise his death as accidental, even choosing a foreign venue to conceal their actions. He further claimed that Sharma was heard shouting “Jabo de, jabo de” (let him go) while Garg was struggling to breathe. However, Sarma reiterated that these remain unverified witness accounts, not confirmed police findings.
