A 35-year-old man, Karan Dev, was murdered in southwest Delhi’s Dwarka in a chilling case of betrayal involving his wife and her lover—who also happens to be his brother-in-law. The murder, which took place on July 13, came to light after Karan was found unconscious and later declared dead at a local hospital. His wife, Sushmita Dev, had claimed he was electrocuted, but her version of events quickly raised suspicions.
Karan’s family grew increasingly wary when Sushmita, Rahul Dev (her lover), and his father resisted a post-mortem examination. Their resistance only deepened doubts, prompting police to launch a thorough investigation. The case took a dramatic turn when Karan’s younger brother, Kunal, found incriminating chats on Sushmita’s phone that exposed an affair and a detailed murder plot.
According to the chats, Sushmita and Rahul had planned the murder meticulously, with Rahul instructing her to sedate Karan before administering an electric shock. The messages revealed Rahul urging Sushmita to give “more medicine,” believed to be sedatives, to ensure Karan’s death. Police said the two had been in a relationship for the past two years.
Following the shocking discovery, the family alerted authorities, leading to the arrests of both Sushmita and Rahul. The police confirmed that the chats played a key role in cracking the case, which was driven by an illicit relationship and ended in a brutal betrayal.
