Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump.

US President Donald Trump said that his administration is continuing talks with India to resolve trade barriers, expressing optimism about the outcome. Writing on Truth Social, Trump noted he looks forward to speaking with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the coming weeks and voiced confidence that negotiations would deliver a “successful conclusion” for both countries.

The remarks signal a softer tone from Trump, who had earlier suggested that India and Russia appeared to be “lost” to China after Modi’s recent meeting with Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin at the SCO Summit in Tianjin. His earlier warning had raised concerns about a potential rift in US-India ties.

Trump has since moderated his position, praising Modi as a “great prime minister” and reaffirming their friendship. Modi, in turn, welcomed Trump’s comments, saying he “deeply appreciates” and “fully reciprocates” the positive outlook on strengthening bilateral relations.
