Zimbabwe secured a commanding 67-run victory over Sri Lanka in the ongoing tri-series in Pakistan, marking their biggest win by runs against a full-member nation. Batting first at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium, the Chevrons posted 162/8, driven by strong performances from Brian Bennett, who scored 49 off 42 balls, and captain Sikandar Raza, who added a brisk 47 from 32 deliveries. Ryan Burl and Tashinga Musekiwa contributed valuable late cameos to lift the total.
Sri Lanka’s bowlers had moments of success, with Wanindu Hasaranga leading the attack with figures of 3/32. Eshan Malinga chipped in with two wickets, while Maheesh Theekshana and Dushmantha Chameera claimed one each. Despite their efforts, Sri Lanka failed to capitalize with the bat during the chase.
In response, Sri Lanka collapsed to just 95 all out in their full 20 overs, with only stand-in captain Dasun Shanaka showing resistance through a 34-run knock. Brad Evans delivered a match-winning spell for Zimbabwe, taking 3/9 in four overs. Richard Ngarava picked up two wickets, while Tinotenda Maposa, Raza, Graeme Cremer and Ryan Burl each added one to complete the dominant win.
