The mortal remains of legendary Assamese singer Zubeen Garg arrived at Indira Gandhi International Airport, Delhi, on September 20 at 11:30 PM, brought from Singapore on a special flight. Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita, a close friend of Zubeen since their college days in Jorhat, along with Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, received the body at the airport.
From Delhi, the mortal remains will be flown to Guwahati on a special aircraft, expected to arrive on Sunday morning, September 21. Upon arrival, the body will first be taken to Zubeen Garg’s residence in Bhagaduttapur for family members to pay their last respects.
Thereafter, the mortal remains will be moved to Arjun Bhogeswar Baruah Sports Complex, Sarusajai, for a public tribute, where fans and well-wishers will be able to pay homage between 9:00 AM and 7:00 PM. Authorities have made elaborate arrangements to manage the anticipated large crowds, with traffic restrictions and crowd control measures in place along the route from the airport to the singer’s residence and the sports complex.
